This red 5 litre casserole is ideal for cooking casseroles and stews and other dishes for a family or for batch cooking. It measures 26cm diameter and is round. It is enamelled cast iron with a black interior. You can use it on top of the hob for boiling, pot roasting, simmering and slow cooking or you can use it inside the oven. You will also find it is ideal to take from oven to table to serve food because, not only is it attractive and stylish, it also retains the heat.
Cast iron is an excellent conductor of heat and so food will also cook evenly. You can also remove from the heat source or turn it down and the cast iron will retain the heat and keep food warm.
Gradually, over time, the casserole develops its own natural non stick surface. It is easily cleaned using a washing up brush and washing up liquid.
